The American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry (AAPD) approves the use of dental radiographs for diagnostic purposes in children and teenagers. Due to the advancement of technology today’s x-rays emit an extremely low dose of radiation. Because of this, the FDA now recommends against using a lead apron when having x-rays taken.
